Key Features

Glandular Tissue
The glandular tissue is made up of the lobes and ducts. The ducts begin at the lobules within the lobes and connect and end at the nipple.

Suspensory Ligaments
The suspensory (Cooper's) Ligaments connect the pectoral fascia to the skin, supporting the breast tissue that it surrounds.

Retromammary Space
This gap is exaggerated in the illustration for emphasis on the space between the pectoralis major muscle and the fascia that the ligaments insert into. This space allows the breast tissue to move relative to the pectoralis major muscle.
