Key Differences

Glandular Tissue Breaks Down
Throughout menopause the glandular tissue, made of the ducts and lobes, begins to break down.

Suspensory Ligaments Weaken
The suspensory (or Cooper's) ligaments begin to weaken, and this causes the nipple and breast tissue to drop.

Majority of Breast is Fat
As the glandular tissue breaks down, it leaves the breast to contain mostly fat. This is why cancer might be easier to see in mammograms of older people as fat is much easier to see through than glandular tissue.
