Key Differences

Glandular Tissue & Lobule Size

Starting in pregnancy, the lobules and lobes begin to expand due to the alveoli getting ready to produce milk.

Nipple & Areola Changes

Often times the nipple and areola will both increase in size and become darker starting in pregnancy. This happens so that the baby can easily find the nipple when breastfeeding.

Overall Size

Because the glandular tissue of the breast increases, it is likely that the overall breast size will also increase.
